MICHELLE MARROQUIN
MICHELLE MARROQUIN is an event organizer that inserts dance into unexpected places. With a background in ballet, contemporary, Mexican Folklorico and Classical Indian dance, Michelle seeks new combinations, new audiences and new possibilities for dance.
Michelle has an MFA from Smith College and has taught at Hampshire, Smith and Springfield Colleges, and the Williston Northampton School where her choreographic work was commissioned from 2010-2014. She has taught Gyrokinesis, Improvisation and Bodywork for Dancers at the American College Dance Festival in the past 7 years.
Her 2015 award-wining dance installation Please Wear Appropriate Attire involved guiding an audience though the Eastworks building to encounter dance in different locations. She is founder and artistic director of Day of the Dead Easthampton, a yearly event that celebrates this unique Mexican tradition. More at www.MichelleMarroquin.com
